Wireless Home Networking - FAQs

What is Wireless Home Networking?
Wireless Home Networking connects multiple computers in a home to a single high speed online connection.

Will Wireless Home Networking affect the speed of the customer's Internet connection?

No. Increasing the number of users does not affect the speed. While sharing high-speed between multiple computers does not affect speed, some activities that require large amounts of bandwidth (i.e., streaming video or a large graphics transfer) may cause some delays.

Is it possible to have both Windows and Macintosh computers with Wireless Home Networking?

Yes. Wireless Home Networking works with Windows computers and Macintosh computers with the built-in airPort wireless communication feature using the 802.11b standard.

Why should people buy this service from Bright House Networks instead of a retailer?

Bright House Networks' technicians will set up the network for the customer, and there's no expensive equipment to purchase. Our service is backed by Bright House Networks' award-winning 24-hour service and support.

What will Bright House Network technicians set up for the customer?

Bright House Networks' cable technicians will perform a one time installation and configuration of your computers.

What support does the customer receive for this service?

The customer receives award-winning 24-hour support of their cable modem and router.

Does Wireless Home Networking protect the connected computer's files against virus intrusion?

No. The customer will need to purchase virus protection software.

What security features are provided with the Wireless Home Networking solution?

Wireless Home Networking may include a number of security features, such as fire walls, wireless security features and remote access security features. While such features are designed to increase the security of the home network, Bright House Networks is not the designer of these features. As a result, Bright House Networks does not warrant or guarantee the security of the customer's home network. Use of these security features may not be sufficient to protect against viruses or unauthorized access by third parties to the customer's computer system, data, equipment or software.

Does Wireless Home Networking support a Virtual Private Network (VPN)?

The system will support a VPN pass-through connection only.
