BRIGHT HOUSE NETWORKS TO BOOST BROADBAND HIGH-SPEED ONLINE SPEED BY 40%
High-Speed Enhancements are a Valentine’s Day Gift to Online Customers
(St. Petersburg, FL) Bright House Networks online customers will be able to connect with friends and loved ones more quickly, and travel the Internet even faster starting next week.
Residential customers of Road Runner High Speed Online and customers using other ISPs provided by Bright House Networks – including EarthLink High Speed Internet and Internet Junction – will enjoy a maximum download speed of 7 megabits per second (mbps). The maximum upload speed, the rate at which e-mail and digital files can be sent, is 512 kilobits per second (kbps). Those speeds are increasing from maximum downloads of 5 mbps and uploads of 384 kbps.
“This service enhancement is our Valentine’s Day gift to our online customers,” said Kevin Hyman, president of Bright House Networks Tampa Bay division. “We thought it was the perfect way and time to express our appreciation for their loyalty to our service.”
The new speeds will be delivered at no additional cost to Bright House Networks customers. The upgrade, which will be activated within the next seven to ten days, represents yet another enhancement for users of Bright House Networks high speed Internet service who saw their speed increase to 5 mbps from 3 mbps in January 2005.
“Our customers will now be able to surf the Internet twice as fast as they were able to about a year ago,” said Hyman. “This speed enhancement is part of our ongoing commitment to meet our customers’ needs while also providing superior value and service.”
Bright House Networks is also increasing the download speed of its Road Runner Lite service this week from 256 kbps to 768 kbps. Hyman said this move is clearly targeted at current dial-up Internet service customers. “Considering this substantial speed enhancement, the attractive price, and all the other benefits that come with the online experience we offer, I can’t think of any reason to stay with a slow dial-up Internet service,” Hyman said.
In addition to these two levels of service, Bright House Networks offers customers the option of upgrading to its 10 Mbps and 15 Mbps services. According to company officials, thousands of customers now subscribe to the super-fast levels of service. It also has commercial-grade high-speed services available through Bright House Networks Business Services.
The regular enhancements to Bright House Networks high-speed service are made possible because of the superior design of the company’s fiber-rich network.
