Bright House Networks-Tampa Bay Named 2006 System of the Year by National Magazine
Company Also Receives National Recognition From Child Welfare League of America
( St. Petersburg , FL ) – Multichannel News , a major trade publication covering the cable industry, has named Bright House Networks-Tampa Bay the 2006 System of the Year. The award annually goes to one outstanding telecommunications and home-entertainment company in the United States .
Bright House Networks is being honored because of its well-established reputation as a technologically advanced, customer-oriented provider of video, High Speed Internet, and Digital Phone services.
The company has achieved success “on several fronts,” according to the lead story in a six-article package published in Multichannel News Feb. 20 edition. The magazine's editors and writing staff lauded Bright House Networks-Tampa Bay for its rapid deployment of Digital Phone service throughout the greater Tampa Bay area; the opening of a new, 4,500-square-foot Demonstration Center at Westfield Countryside mall in Clearwater ; and the recent launch of Catch 47, a 24-hour sports channel, home to exclusive USF programming.
Multichannel News, in related articles, also recognized Bright House Networks for the company's efforts in the areas of quality customer service, technological strengths and innovations, effective competitive strategies, and the success and popularity of Bay News 9.
Even with all of these achievements, “it's the little things that have made the difference,” reporter Matt Stump wrote, “like calling subscribers on their fifth-year anniversary to thank them for their patronage, free service calls, and having current employees participate in interviews of prospective hires.”
These factors have helped make Bright House Networks “a different kind of cable company,” as the company's mission statement promised when Bright House Networks was rolled out three years ago.
That philosophy is also evident in its recently launched brand campaign, identifying Bright House Networks as a company that makes life simpler for its customers, with easy-to-use services and products, and excellent customer care.
“We are humbled by this level of recognition for things we do on a daily basis. It all comes directly from our passion for keeping our customers happy,” said Kevin Hyman, president of Bright House Networks Tampa Bay Division. “We strive to provide our customers with great products and services, and offer first-class customer care and technical support. It's nice to see people are taking notice.”
Bright House Networks also received the 2006 Corporate Friend of Children Award, the highest national honor bestowed by the Child Welfare League of America, at a ceremony held February 28 in Washington, D.C. Bright House received the award because “its policies and practices at every level exemplify a commitment to the betterment of communities in which they do business,” according to the official notification letter from Shay Bilchik, President and CEO of CWLA.
The recognition stems from the company's active community affairs program which includes a variety of initiatives such as its 401(k)ids Program, the umbrella program for educational and youth-oriented projects; Operation Bright Eyes, a neighborhood watch program; and its Volunteer Youth Awards.
Bright House Networks is a leading provider of entertainment and information services serving more than one million customers in the greater Tampa Bay area. The company's fiber-optic network offers Digital Cable, Digital Phone, HDTV, Digital Video Recorders, iCONTROL On Demand services, and multiple high-speed Internet services.
